About DR. Jayprakash P. Vyas

A simple friendly leader, born on 6th May 1953 at Dhari (Dist.-Amreli) in a highly educated family with simple living and high moral values. His father Shashikant Vyas, an advocate by profession, is a freedom fighter.
 
     
 
With a very bright academic career, Dr. Jayprakash Vyas became M.B.B.S. in 1976 with first class. During his undergraduate medical studies he won awards for sports and cultural activities
 
     
 
After passing his M.D. in Pediatrics at first attempt, he married on 19th November 1980 Dr. Neeta, who is now Principal of S.B.B. College of Physiotherapy at V.S. Hospital. Dr. Neeta recently became PHD in physiotherapy.
 
     
 
Started his private practice in 1981 in Sabarmati and is having his own nursing home. Attached to Pukhraj Raichand General Hospital a charitable institute since 1984. He has served as Honorary pediatrician in Ahmedabad Municipal Referral Hospital for 20 years. On O.N.G.C. panel since 1986 as senior consultant as well as on P.R.L. panel of consultants. He is also attached to Pramukh Swami Health Care & Research Centre since its inception 11 years back.
 
     
 
Joined Rotary Club of Sabarmati in 1984, got best Rotarian Award of Club in the year 1990-91. Served his club as Hon. Secretary of the club in 1992-93 and as President in the year 1995-96. During his tenure as President for the first time club got many District Awards. Two huge rallies one on AIDS prevention and another for Polio eradication in span of five days was his great achievement as President of the Sabarmati Rotary Club. Since 1996 he has served our District in various capacities.
 
     
 
He was the chairman of PETS-2000 which was held in a holiday resort for 2 days first of its kind in our district. Became A.G. in 2000-01 of Ahmedabad Zone and won the best A.G. Award. In the year 2003-04 as district chairman of Greetings Committee, he greeted about 4500 Rotarians on their birth dates and marriage anniversaries with great perfection. In the centennial year 2004-05 as a chairman of Rotary Information Committee he started weekly E-newsletters on Rotary Information every Saturday, “SATURDAY NIGHT ROTARY” which were sent to more than 850 Rotarians for 3 consecutive Rotary years. In the span of three years he almost covered each and every aspect of Rotary without missing a single Saturday. The same was converted into a handbook and C.D., which was highlighted in “ROTARY NEWS”, Oct. 2006 issue, and got it recognized even nationally and internationally in Rotary World.
 
     
 
He has addressed many Rotary club meetings on Rotary and non Rotary subjects. He has been in training team at PETS on many occasions. He has attended more than 85 intercity meets and many of them he has addressed. He has attended 20 District Conferences and 17 District Assemblies. He has also attended 3 International Rotary events. During the year 2002-03, Gujarat State Government invited to share his views on Polio Eradication Campaign in a panel discussion, which was being telecasted on Doordarshan before N.I.D. and S.N.I.D. through the year. He is M.P.H.F., contributed more than 8000 US$ He had been contact person of matching grant project a computer centre at koba. School and successfully completed it with latest facilities. 100% Rotarian since last 15 years, has been recipient many District Awards and also recipient of R.I.’s 4 Avenues of Service Award. He has traveled to Europe, U.K., Singapore and Thailand. Popularly known as JP in Rotary.
